Why did you join the Barclays Black Founder Accelerator?
I understand the value of a great network and good advisors. I really wanted to opportunity to connect with a range of experts and mentors in the tech space.
Why did you want to start your business?
I started by business because I recognised that Black hair stylist are an extremely underserved group in the beauty industry. I want to be at the intersection of Black hair and technology. My vision is to lead the technological advancement on the Black hair styling industry.
What would be your desired outcome from this programme?
My desired outcome will be to leave the programme with a solid board of advisors and a stronger network.
Which entrepreneur inspires you the most and why?
Spanx - Sara Blakely. She is a great innovator and leader.
What has been your biggest win in your entrepreneurial journey?
My biggest win was building the MVP for Tressly. That gave me so many insights which has led me here today.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding the right talent to support with different parts of the journey.
Where did you go for business advice and how did it help you?
I read lots of audio books which have really helped me: The Lean Start up, The E-myth, The Messy Middle.
What drives you to make your business a success?
Hearing how much our users love our product really keeps me going.
What advice would you give other founders thinking about starting their own business?
Starting is the hardest part - but once you can get over that fear, you'll figure the rest out. Always start small to test out your idea.
