LOT SIX

LOT SIX is a Financial Marketplace for Creators.
In the first instance the platform gives creators access to an extensive set of collaboration tools that empowers them to finance their projects through strategic partnerships.
Underlying each project is a robust set of smart contracts that allow resources to share economic ownership in the creative assets that they produce together.
In the second instance the platform enables investors to find and finance high quality content that has already been partially developed and financed through these strategic partnerships
Why did you join the Barclays Black Founder Accelerator?
We joined the Barclays Black Founder Accelerator because we feel that Barclays is the perfect partner for our financial technology. Our business relies heavily on payments and smart contracts — areas that Barclays brings a wealth of expertise. We have used Barclays as our business bankers since we incorporated, and have always been happy with the level of service and professionalism we have received.
Why did you want to start your business?
At the core of the LOT SIX movement is a unified effort to blend Social Consciousness into the fabric of the financial system. A reality where all people are empowered to participate in the global economy and support themselves through collaboration, trade, barter and modern free market dynamics. My background in correlation research and trading has given me a unique perspective on how things work together, and has set the stage for the LOT SIX movement. Above all, I feel called to leave behind a legacy that brings the people of this planet together in harmony.
What would be your desired outcome from this programme?
In an ideal world, this program will result in an equity investment from Barclays and a committment from Barclays to helping us make LOT SIX technology commercially available on a global scale. We feel that it is hugely important for large corporations (and the banks especially) to help take the lead in social efforts such financial sustainability. Inherent to this discussion is the idea of equal access to finance.
Which entrepreneur inspires you the most and why?
George Lucas (American Filmmaker & Entrepreneur) has always been a huge inspiration for the LOT SIX project. Not only was he able to pursue a path that he was excited about, but he was also able to inspire generations to come. Like Lucasfilm, LOT SIX has undertones of the forth coming space age and fully intends to be a sustainable marketplace for the future.
What has been your biggest win in your entrepreneurial journey?
Upon leaving equity trading (in the classical sense) I co-founded and served as CFO of Shutl, a secondary marketplace for same day delivery providers. This company was aquired by eBay and served as my first successful exit. The exit, in and of itself, was not the biggest win. The biggest win was the confidence gained from being able to step out of a high profile career in banking to pursue social causes with lasting impacts.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Leaving banking to become more familiar with the creative and cultural side of the Arts has been challenging in the sense that it has taken me further away from access to capital. However, it has been incredibly insightful to work with creators on the ground level and truly understand the struggles that artists have to endure in order to pursue their craft.
Where did you go for business advice and how did it help you?
Given that LOT SIX is based 100% on the idea of collaboration, we have actively sought out advice friends, family and mentors that operate in various capacities through the financial, creative and public sectors. The aim is to cultivate a community that considers a framework that compliments all of these groups and builds on the synergies and shared interest of society as a whole.
What drives you to make your business a success?
The driving force behind making LOT SIX a success is the knowledge that this application will help enrich the lives of so many people around the world. Although we present the LOT SIX as a tool for creators, the platform’s infrastructure can be used for any type of project. So, a group of friends can meet at a class reunion and within minutes be set up to work on a project together. Similarly, a refugee that ends up displaced and in a foreign country can use the platform to find work for which they are uniquely qualified.
What advice would you give other founders thinking about starting their own business?
My advice to prospective founders is just to GET STARTED. This can be as simple as brainstorming on Saturday mornings about the things that they are most passionate about. Often times people say that they just “don’t know what they want to do” or that they "don’t feel like they have any good ideas.” The fact is, that even with the very best ideas, there are countless hours that go into developing those ideas and implementing strategies. So the key is just to get started with things that you are passionate about, and reverse engineering how best to bring those ideas to life.
