Mentor's bio
Martina is a Data Science Lead with experience matured in the start-up tech space in Edinburgh as well as in larger organisations. She is passionate about bringing data to life via the investigation and communication of results, promoting data literacy and creating actionable insights. Her expertise focuses on extracting quantitative information from data and her pet peeve is the widespread use of "bad data/bad statistics" in e.g. the media world. She has experience with research (academic and non) as she holds a PhD in Physics which started her on her Machine Learning journey. She also worked in software and data engineering, and she built and managed teams in various workplaces - she enjoys leading and values transparency, no red tape, kindness and diversity. In her spare time she produces hand-drawn data visualizations and data storytelling and she writes about what she learns.
