Supporting Local Economies
We have a strong history of partnering with local authorities and local government initiatives to help revitalise local economies.
We do this by working together to set up and run dedicated business incubators to attract ambitious tech and digital businesses to the region and drive local economic growth.
Our experience in creating incubators and tailored growth programmes for businesses as well as establishing entrepreneurial ecosystems and networks makes us the ideal partner for local authorities and government-backed initiatives.
Here are a few examples of how we’ve partnered with local authorities and government initiatives.
Southampton City Council
Southampton City Council were looking to re-imagine the high street and attract inward investment as well as retain postgraduate intellectual talent.
Eagle Labs were commissioned to run under-utilised retail storage space at the Marlands Shopping Centre that had been converted into a 12,500 sq ft incubator.
Network Eagle Lab has now been open for more than two years and is a thriving hub in the heart of Southampton and home to some of the most exciting startups from the area.
Britain’s Energy Coast (BEC) and Sellafield Ltd
BEC and Sellafield Ltd needed a partner to support diversification of employment opportunities in the region by empowering and upskilling the local community.
Eagle Labs were selected to run the incubator space at the site of an old bus station in Whitehaven and Eagle Labs Cumbria is now a lively space with a mix of co-working and office space and a Makerspace with an onsite Engineer.
Manchester City Council
Manchester City Council needed a partner to run their dedicated Digital Innovation and Security Hub (DiSH) to work collaboratively with the business and entrepreneurial community, academics, public sector organisations and the voluntary sector to identify digital security threats and create innovative responses to them.
An Eagle Labs led consortium won the tender to run DiSH and plans are under way to build an incubator in Heron House that offers co-working space as well as access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities that will allow members to rapidly develop and test their products and services.
