Why did you join the Barclays Black Founder Accelerator?
To access specialist business support, coaching, mentoring, effective product design and marketing strategies in preparation for successful launch, grow, scale as well as support to access finance and entry to global market. Acess skilled experts required such as web developer content writer.
Why did you want to start your business?
Already started. Passionate about inclusion and high quality education, experienced in quality assurance for over 25 years as an Ofsted inspector in UK, US, UAE and Cayman Islands. Keen to harness technology to promote global education equality.
What would be your desired outcome from this programme?
Support to refine product, launch, scale grow. Access expertise and experience that contributed to the success of Barclays Eagle Labs to build a global learning community of skilled young people across the globe.
Which entrepreneur inspires you the most and why?
Reed Hastings, Netflix's CEO, disruptive thinking, and his promotion of the culture of reinvention by handing control, responsibility and ccountability to employees.
What has been your biggest win in your entrepreneurial journey?
The discovery that my business idea is backed by research but limited action has been taken to implement it.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Sourcing the skilled expertise that could provide value for money to develop my MPV for testing, evaluation and quality assurance.
Where did you go for business advice and how did it help you?
UCL Hatchery, Innovate UK, access to a range of workshops that cover a broad range of areas from accounting to legal, recruitment selection, crowdfunding, networking, etc.
What drives you to make your business a success?
Making a difference, a positive impact, especially on young peoples lives. There is abundance of skills and talents globally with the potential to solve global problems waiting to be unleashed and channeled. I want to make this happen.
What advice would you give other founders thinking about starting their own business?
Go with their passion. Be focused and persistent, never give up. Trust their instincts.
