How Coronavirus has impacted the startup community

Barclays Ventures CEO Ben Davey on the incredible response from the startup community to the Coronavirus crisis and what his team is doing to help

Davey says the startup response to the coronavirus to this point has been “truly astonishing” with the community pulling together, stepping up and collaborating. He also sees CEOs and senior teams pivoting their strategies.

Davey, speaking from his home, outlines the practical steps that Barclays Eagle Labs, Rise and Ventures have taken and how they are helping support the community financially and otherwise.

There is also help out there for firms that fall outside the government support criteria and he urges those businesses to remember that banks are still lending and there are other sources of private capital available. Investment is slowing down but it’s still there.
