The UK Government launched the Help to Grow scheme in 2021 to help set small and medium-sized businesses on a path to performance, resilience and long-term growth.

This subsidised 12-week programme is delivered through a combination of online sessions and face-to-face learning at business schools across the country, covering topics such as:

  • Strategy and innovation
  • Digital adoption
  • Internationalisation and winning new markets
  • Building a brand
  • Developing a marketing strategy
  • Vision, mission and values
  • Organisational design
  • Employee engagement and leading change
  • High performance workplace
  • Implementing growth plans
  • Finance and financial management
  • Efficient operations


The UK Government has also launched Help to Grow Digital – an initiative designed to support smaller businesses in adopting digital technologies so that they can grow.

Eligible businesses can receive discounts of up to £5,000 off the retail price of approved software from technology suppliers to help them manage their finances and build customer relationships. Businesses can also access practical support and advice on how to choose the right technologies to boost their growth and productivity.
