Decarbonising construction materials
A live session with Munraj Sembhi of Reaforma and Elizabeth Lee of Carbon Cell, followed by a Q&A.
About this event
Explore how innovative materials are transforming the real estate sector. Reaforma is a climate tech startup focused on decarbonising the industrial production of cement, while Carbon Cell’s carbon-negative biochar applications look to reshape packaging and construction materials.
Munraj Sembhi is the Co-Founder and CEO of Reaforma, who are producing a carbon-negative clay-based cement. Munraj has nearly a decade of experience in the construction industry, spanning both design and on-site delivery. With deep insight into how industry stakeholders think, operate, and adopt innovations, he combines technical expertise with a practical understanding of barriers to change.
Elizabeth Lee is the CEO and Co-founder of Carbon Cell, a company dedicated to creating sustainable, biodegradable alternatives to traditional polymer-based foams. Elizabeth's journey began with a background in psychology and linguistics from Columbia University. She pursued further education in sustainable design at Pratt Institute and later at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London. Her work at Carbon Cell has been recognised for its potential to significantly reduce polystyrene waste and its impact on the environment. Initially targeting packaging for luxury goods like perfumes and electronics, Carbon Cell is poised to expand into broader applications like white goods packaging and thermal insulation, offering a sustainable alternative for the built environment.
