What’s different about your company / product?
At a time when employee wellbeing and engagement are at the top of leaders' priorities lists, the work we do at Silicon Reef has never been more relevant. We believe in enabling a balance for our workforce between work and life but understand that means something different for every individual. We are privileged to have built a team of talented friends who work across the UK.
Our team select their own working hours and are responsible for their personal project management. But as a truly modern team, we are all working towards the same goal: to deliver excellent, sustainable, people-led solutions for our clients.
Collectively we are dedicated to crafting technology that empowers people within their workplace: to make the most of their tools, maximise their time and promote a work life balance.
How did you start off and when?
Silicon Reef started with 5 co-founders who all came from experience of working at one of the largest companies in the world as consultants.
During our time there, we came to a realisation that we can deliver digital solutions as a team to a very high standard and the idea was ignited. Silicon Reef was then founded in 2016.
We started working from our own lounge tables and progressed to hotel conference facilities from London to Chester and Bournemouth.
Where is your company at in its business journey now?
3 years into the journey, we have grown from a team of 5 to 20. Our clients have become varied from blue chip enterprise to small charities.
Our ambitions aren’t yet realised, but we proud to say that our initial targets set out in year one have been achieved or exceeded each year.
What have been your biggest challenges to get where you are today?
Growing our brand and reputation for delivering excellence is one of the most important elements to our success to date. But getting there through a rebrand, marketing tools and techniques took a lot of learning, strategy review and execution by a team that we setup. The result is one of our best achievements to date, but it was one of our biggest challenges too.
What are you most excited about working at Barclays Eagle Lab?
We use the Lab as a hub for the team to connect on a flexible basis as we are advocates of remote/ home working. However, when we do come together in the Lab it’s an environment that promotes ideas and discussion within the team.
What does the future hold for your company – what are your plans? What’s the next big challenge?
Silicon Reef intend to continue our growth path and looking at leveraging emerging Microsoft technologies to help businesses achieve their goals. The biggest challenge is keeping up with the rapid acceleration of the technology and having the skills within the team to ensure that we continue to serve our customer base.
As an Entrepreneur what tips do you have for entrepreneurs starting out on their journey
Never stop learning. Podcasts, books, audiobooks, You Tube, peer groups…. Get involved in as much as possible and grow your network of people.
