Advice to an entrepreneur starting out?
From a business perspective, identify your total addressable market and test your product-market fit before you launch your company. From a personal perspective, make sure you are passionate about the problem you are solving.
Your favorite entrepreneur?
I tend to admire inventors more than entrepreneurs. Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie (Unix), Satoshi Nakamoto (Bitcoin) and Vitalik Buterin (Ethereum) are some of my favorite inventors.
What is your company’s mission?
Help lawyers work better and faster.
How did you start off and when?
Being both a corporate lawyer and a software developer, I came to the conclusion that the job of a corporate lawyer and a software developer are essentially the same – expressing business logic in written form. Yet, writing contracts is far slower and more error-prone than writing software. This is because software engineers are constantly evolving principles, patterns and tools which allow them to write complex software with relative speed and ease. I wanted to bring these things to the legal profession, to make mine and my colleagues’ lives easier. I decided to start with tools that integrate into existing workflows, and began building an application that lets lawyers edit entire sets of transaction documents at once. Soon after, I started getting involved in the London legal tech community and was invited to join the Eagle Lab. I have been working on Office & Dragons full time since April 2019.
