Modius' fast start to 2018

Modius, the health-tech wearable developed by Belfast-based tech company Neurovalens, continues to make global headlines after winning the NI heat of the Startup World Cup.

Modius will now go forward to compete for the $1million investment fund at the competition finals in San Francisco.

Just a week after attending CES in Las Vegas where it placed third in the Last Gadget Standing competition to decide the 'most likely to succeed product', interest in the headset continues to exceed all expectations approaching $2m funded on Indiegogo and $500k sales during CES alone.

Modius, which was developed by Portglenone local Dr Jason McKeown, utilises neuroscience to help people achieve leaner bodies. The headset sends a signal to the part of the brain that controls fat storage, stimulating your brain to burn more fat, resulting in weight loss.

The Modius team will now prepare for their global pitch in San Francisco where they will compete against 29 other regional finalists at the Startup World Cup, to be held on 11 May this year.

The company is dual-headquartered in the Ormeau Baths Innovation Centre, Belfast and University of California San Diego Centre for Brain & Cognition.
