Our latest Lab launch within Rise London

This week saw me help launch the greatest looking Eagle Lab yet, based within Rise London with a range of support services and access to Digital Fabrication equipment to assist your business to flourish.

Barclays are investing in the future of Shoreditch, supporting businesses to embrace new and emerging technologies critical to the success of businesses in the UK. 

Rise through its global network of connected sites in seven of the world’s top FinTech ecosystems, delivers numerous programmes that facilitate rapid engagement between Barclays and the Rise community in order to solve some of the biggest challenges facing financial services. These programmes foster long-term mutually beneficial relationships, designed to scale early prototypes and new business models into live products and services.

Our Eagle Lab has two floors in the new building the first right next to the very swanky cafe on the ground floor, this is the home to the Maker Space an IoT hub within the Lab network packed with so many cool gadgets ready to help the members of Rise create make and innovative there way into the next stage of there businesses. 

A Trotec laser cutter ready to etch in to anything and cut out parts for prototypes, then there is three awesome Ultimaker 3D printers which were on non stop the three days. I was there making items for display really show casing the possibilities. The Lab will be offering the members 5 hours of 3D printing time and 1 hour on the laser cutter each week as well as 4 hours per month of Technician Support from the in house Tech.

The next floor is directly below the Maker Space which is set up as a space to work with individual tables and pods. As well as working space there is a full VR studio down with both the HTC Vive and Oculus paired with an Area 51 PC from Alienware giving everyone a rig to build and test there next VR project on. 


During the three days of launch the Lab saw over 350 people come into the Lab and made some really cool introductions as well as items using the equipment. 

I would like to thank the full team involved in getting the Lab up and running and to everyone at RISE for welcoming me into there building and this relationship is going to be great for the FinTech world as a whole.
