Hello Guernsey!

We’re delighted to announce a new collaboration with Digital Greenhouse and the Committee for Economic Development to launch a Barclays Eagle Lab in Guernsey, which will help entrepreneurs, businesses and the local community to create, innovate and grow.

Opening on 29 June 2018, our new Eagle Lab will be based in Market Square at the Digital Greenhouse and will offer individuals, local businesses, community groups and schools a collaborative working space. Clients and guests will be invited to join Karen Frank, CEO, Private Bank & Overseas Services, and Gavin St Pier, Chief Minister of Guernsey, for the official opening on 29 June 2018. This event marks Barclays’ 17th Eagle Lab, and a significant milestone as we complete the rollout to our offshore locations (Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man).

Justine Gaudion, Head of Locals Markets, Guernsey said: “At Barclays our long-term aim is to create and curate a series of products, services and partnerships that improve the lives of people in the communities which we serve.

"We’re excited that we’ll be able to provide our Eagle Lab services at the Digital Greenhouse and to be supporting the Committee for Economic Development with their strategy to encourage entrepreneurship and business growth in Guernsey.”

Commenting on the news, Deputy Andrea Dudley-Owen, Vice President of the Committee for Economic Development and Digital lead said: “The Barclays Eagle Lab is a great development for Guernsey. It will play an important part in supporting our work to be a leading innovative and entrepreneurial community, the location of choice for a diverse range of low footprint, high value, digital businesses. Their aims fit hand in glove with many of those we are working with to achieve in our Digital Strategy.”

In preparation for the launch of our new Guernsey Eagle Lab, we’re pleased to welcome Gez Overstall, Ecosystem Manager, who brings a wealth of technology experience having joined Barclays from Infrasoft Technologies earlier this year. In his new role, Gez will work with island businesses, entrepreneurs and mentors during their scale-up journey, as well as members of the public and community groups as they seek to improve their digital skills.

The signing of this new partnership is a real game changer and is other great example of us working together with our clients, colleagues and stakeholders to add real societal value both now and for the future.
