Cherry Eagle Lab is 1 year old

We can’t quite believe it’s been a year ago since Barclays Eagle Labs was born! On 2nd December 2015, we were privileged to welcome HRH The Duke of York, KG, to our first Eagle Lab in Cambridge and officially open the site.

The Eagle Lab is positioned on Cherry Hinton road, close to the centre of the City of Cambridge. The fantastic space offers Event Space and room hire, as well as a fully equipped Maker Space.

Over the last 12 months, the space has seen thousands of visitors through its doors. The Maker Space is run by Katie Doyle, Eagle lab Manager and Paul Freakley, Lab Engineer who always go the extra mile for their visitors.

The Eagle Lab can offer something for everyone in Cambridge. The Lab regularly have Businesses and entrepreneurs using the Maker Space to prototype their latest products, and always has Paul on hand to support with design and printing their creations. More recently the Lab haver started to offer a Rapid Prototyping service, where businesses and individuals can send in designs or request to be printed quickly at high quality

The Lab also has several links with local schools, colleges and scout groups who use the space to work on educational projects and attend bespoke Maker Workshops. Workshop topics range from 3D design and printing to Micro:bit coding, and the Lab team are always working on new and original content.

Furthermore, the hosts corporate away days for business and organisations looking to get out of the office for a day full of team building and problem solving, with a maker twist! The workshops are unique and tailored to the group’s goals and aspirations.

There have also been many groups hire the space over the last year; Cambridge Network, HackLab, Formthefuture, to name just a few. The Lab has flexible hours opening at evenings and weekends on request. With great facilities, and close to the station and city, the Eagle Lab is unique and important to the community in Cambridge.
