Recently we had the great pleasure of opening the new Eagle Lab in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Newcastle Eagle Lab is a partnership with TusPark UK, a Chinese high tech company supporting high growth businesses through a global network of business parks. TusPark Newcastle Eagle Lab connects locally, nationally and internationally and has a bias towards CleanTech businesses.
TusPark offers startups and business working in the UK a chance to access a Chinese market as it is one of the largest business networks of the region. This is alongside the Barclay's Eagle Labs Network that can provide startups and scale-ups mentoring and advise on business development and funding.
The lab was opened by Pat Ritchie, CEO of Newcastle City Council during a sensational event which included speeches from Andrew Lawrence - Head of SME for Barclays UK Ventures, Dr Yunming Shao,- Vice President of TusPark Holdings UK, Ben Davey - CEO for Barclays UK Ventures and Dr Steven Roberts - Strategic Transformation Director for Barclays UK.
Guests were entertained by a Chinese dragon dance and drum performers which ate and sprayed cabbage amongst the audience. In Chinese culture, this traditional performance is intended to bring good luck.
TusPark Eagle Lab has a flexible co-working space, events space, meetings rooms. and maker space supported by an Engineer which will give business access to digital fabrication and rapid prototyping tools.
TusPark Eagle Lab will also host events and accelerator programmes and is located on Grainger street in the heart of Newcastle city centre.
