Our Salford Eagle Lab hosted its third #BarclaysAiFrenzy of 2018 in collaboration with the very cool folk from Manchester Artificial Intelligence Meetup, the theme of the evening was how artificial intelligence plays its part within specific sectors.

Barclays Ai guru Alex Keeble opened proceedings at The Landing sharing valuable insights into what his visions & ambitions are, and how bringing the Ai commmunity together nationally through knowldge sharing and debate will support such exciting times ahead.

The evening consisted of truly amazing insights and started with Ilaria Gori from DigitalBridge HQ who have created an application for room design.

They use evolutionary algorithms to find layouts that are valid based on regulations, and look good in that room.

"There is a huge fear of automation, like there is in many fields, but in our field which is particularly conservative it is immense"

Alex Palladini from MUSIC Tribe (machine learning application in music)

"Globally we spend about 100 billion dollars a year on google online advertising, so it’s important to get these feeds right"

Rob Cantrill from Dream Agility (AI in online fashion retail)

"We are trying to make people aware. Audio is at the stage where it can be faked. Machine learning can also be used to distinguish fake from real"

Scott Stevenson from ASI Data Science (Using AI for speech generation)

"There are more than 1 billion people in the world with some sort of disability, so I think artificial intelligence can have a huge societal impact there"

Last but not least, Fahd Rafi from Microsoft
