Barclays Black Founder Accelerator 2021:

Kweevo is an analytics platform offering automated and pre-built innovative AI dashboards designed to empower businesses with the insights they need in a timely manner and generate more revenue.

Why did you join the Barclays Black Founder Accelerator?

There are few opportunities to join a start-up programme designed for minorities and particularly for the Black community. So, once I heard of the Barclays Black Founder Accelerator, I knew I had to apply to benefit from much-needed support specifically tailored for Black Founders.

The entrepreneurial journey is a challenging one, and it helps a lot to have a good support network and experts that can guide you through it. I believe the Barclays Black Founder Accelerator will provide me with essential knowledge and mentoring to help bring my company to the next level!

Why did you want to start your business?

My passion for Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence has led me to start Kweevo. As a Data Scientist and a Data Strategist, my goal is to help businesses with data and digital transformation.

Kweevo was born from the idea of giving access to Analytics and AI to millions of non-tech users. Every business should have the ability to turn their data into insights and evolve as a digital organisation. We simplify the process, so no coding skills or extensive training are required to use our app.

Think of Kweevo as an organisation's one-stop hub for their analytical requirements. Our mission is to help businesses drive more value from their data.

What would be your desired outcome from this programme?

My desired outcome is to be equipped with the knowledge and the tools I need to scale my business, particularly in sales, marketing and funding.

Also, my goal is to be selected for Demo Day to have the opportunity to showcase my business to potential clients and investors.

Which entrepreneur inspires you the most and why?

Mike Bugembe. He is a leader, author and black founder in the AI sector. I am impressed with his entrepreneurial journey and the work he is doing to support businesses with data.

What has been your biggest win in your entrepreneurial journey?

The biggest win in my entrepreneurial journey is the launch of the Kweevo app. I started the business at the beginning of 2020 (when the pandemic hit), but I imagined this concept a few years ago when I founded my first business, L.Y. Corp. It took approximately one year to design and develop the platform, and it has been an exciting and enriching experience.

For me, the launch of our app is a fantastic achievement - considering the limited resources and the pandemic - and we are just getting started!

What has been your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge has been the limitation of funding and resources. I have bootstrapped the business so far and had to run it in a lean and smart manner.

Where did you go for business advice and how did it help you?

I have received business advice from many key people in my network, some acting as mentors or advisors. I have also joined other programmes designed for Founders.

The advice and support received have allowed me to grow the business, challenged me when required and encouraged me to move forward.

What drives you to make your business a success?

First and foremost, my faith. I also have a strong desire to help others using my expertise and my skills.

What advice would you give other founders thinking about starting their own business?

Believe in yourself and find a good support network! I would also say to find one or many mentors to help you in your journey. Do not be afraid to ask for help.
